The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a new Apple patent. The document deals with an augmented reality system that can highlight areas of importance to the user in the visibility zone.
The development uses the camera of the mobile device and automatically determines the points of interest on the ground. Each of them will be accompanied by a special indicator with the name and distance to it. When interacting with the window, users will have access to the navigation function or additional information about the object.
The system will be able to work both in open spaces and in small rooms. On one of the images, a tablet, similar to an iPad, is used to demonstrate key points of the car's interior, to identify and highlight important items in it. The patent text also describes the identification of objects in the house. Thus, the owner of the device, for example, will be able to find a smartphone instead of using the “Find my iPhone” function.
In addition, the patent depicts a wearable gadget that looks like smart glasses or a VR headset: the camera in the device will allow you to overlay useful information with a “semi-transparent display” that the user can interact with using gestures.
